I’m at a loss for words so I guess I should just come right out and say it.
We have worse than 1/100 chance (he didn’t have the exact number) for Trisomy 18.
Normally they do a detailed ultrasound and amnio in the 18th week but he convinced the hospital to do it in the 17th and had an appointment for me this coming Monday… however… Hubby and I leave for the Dominican on the weekend. If we had to cancel our trip it would suck but we would and he said not to. Go and try to have fun.
I am booked for the 15th but he is going to beg them to do it Friday at 16w5d but he doubts they’ll agree.
If it’s a false positive then WONDERFUL! If it’s a true positive it means that as soon as this child comes out it will die… if it even makes it that long. We would be given the choice to carry on or to deliver now and avoid prolonging the agony.
I am sending PT your way. I cannot imagine what is going through your head and in your heart. I will hope for the best for you. (((((hugs)))))
Erin– ((HUGS))I am so sorry you have to go through this wory. Im praying that it is just a false positive.
Oh Erin! I’m sending many PPT that the amnio results come back that all is normal with baby.

I’m so sorry and I know this is easy to say but try not to freak out. I am 14 weeks pregnant. I opted not to have the quad tests because I have 2 close friends who had horrible experiences with it. They both had signs of possible Down’s. They both had amnios and freaked for 2 weeks while they waited on the results. Both came back normal and now they both have 2 normal kids. I know that every story does not turn out that way but keep in mind that even a 1/100 chance is still just a 1% chance. That means there is a 99% chance everything is fine. I will send PT your way.
