What Does Gluten Free Bread Taste Like?

There were 4 of us splitting a piece. Between the 4 of us we barely dented the piece and all 4 f of spat it out in disgust.
It was like eating a dry sponge.
That had to have been the WORST thing I have ever tasted. I hope when we make it homemade it ends up better but I’m not hopeful.
***Edited to add*** The homemade bread was fine. Not much different than normal bread, just a thinner dough. It’s just the factory made ones that are WRONG WRONG WRONG
It does taste pretty bad if you are eating a lot of sugar. If you are on a sugar free diet and you toast it, it tastes really great, esp. with cheese. Yum!
