It’s brief this time because it happened so fast.

I was doing the kick counts and as predicted she failed.  I wanted to wait for one more count but Hubby insisted we go in (good man).  We call L&D and tell them we’re on our way.

We go in and there was no parking.  Hubby pulled in to the fire spot and said he’d bring me in and then re-park.  So they hook me up to NST and Hubby went to park.  I knew right away as soon as they hooked me up that something wasn’t right.  Her heart beat was all over the place and the put me on my left side and started an IV.

While Hubby was outside he saw my OB rip in and honked at him to say hi and move out of the way as she had an emergency section.  At that moment they both realized it was me and they ran in.  Hubby was prepped as was I.  They had a general ready in case Thing 3 didn’t give me enough time for a spinal but I was able to get the spinal and be awake.  That took several tries and my right leg kept convulsing – it was not a fun experience.

A few minutes later Thing 3 was born.  She came out crying but then freaked out and had trouble breathing.  They said it took about 1/2 an hour and then she stabalized.  She is now doing wonderful and breathing on her own.

Thing 3 will stay in the NICU until she’s eating more – the guesstimate is a week to 10 days.  She’s doing far better than expected for 34 weeks.

Here are a few photos of our little girl.
