The Plan

I think we have come up with a plan we can all be happy about. To sum it up our decision is not to decide right now.
Hubby was talking with a friend of ours who is in a similar situation with his wife. They both have similar feelings on the subject of another child. They both pretty much came to the conclusion that they find the idea exciting and yet scary.
We have decided that any sacrifices we make are only temporary. If we have to get a *SIGH* minivan it should only be for the term of a lease (if we choose to lease again). At the end of that Thing 1 will be in a booster seat and Thing 2 will likely be as well, if not close to it. We could buy smaller booster seats (we have big convertible seats now) and go back to having a car. Even more importantly we factored in something we hadn’t thought about before and it changes everything. We always said that once all of our kids are in school full time I will go back to my career but we didn’t take that into account financially. We won’t be paying for daycare so my income will actually be bringing in money. That takes care of all the major financial fears we had.
We are pretty much going to sit on this and make a final decision next summer. At that point we will either officially start trying or look into permanent birth control.
In the meantime we are going to change our current birth control. My fertility is still nowhere to be found from breastfeeding and we hate the way hormonal birth control makes me feel not to mention what it does to my sex drive. Once the prescription I have now runs out we will switch to a barrier method instead. We trust it enough to do the job but if it does end up failing we’d be ok with that too, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. We’re doing this in hopes my fertility will eventually come back and it also leaves things open so that if we decide we’re ready to try earlier (if that’s the route we go) then we can at any time. Basically it gives us more freedom.
So that’s what’s going on with that.

Sounds like a great plan, Erin!
