Ok, this is getting a little out of hand now. I even debated about posting about what’s going on so all of my readers didn’t think I was some kind of freak or something. I have a Kidney infection now.
I missed all of the early UTI symptoms. Why would a woman who is 7 months pregnant suspect anything was wrong when I’m peeing like a mad woman. I also missed the nausea because with a bad stomach that didn’t sound off any alarms either. What eventually caught my attention was the pain. Yesterday we had company and I had some back pain. I assumed I was likely constipated but by the end of the evening I felt just awful. Overnight it was excruciating and only got worse today. The pain was in my kidneys so I decided to go to the Walk-in clinic and tell them I suspected a UTI. They dipped a strip in my urine and the Doctor said I’ve likely been sitting on this infection for quite some time. He said I must have a very high pain tolerance and was surprised I was still standing. He said had I gone to the ER instead of the Walk-in I would have been admitted because the colour change on the stick was off the charts.
He wants me to take that same urine (as it was taken before any antibiotics were given) to the lab so the specific infection can be identified. The lab was closed by the time I was out of the clinic so I have to keep the container in the fridge overnight and drop it off in the morning.
Since UTIs can lead to preterm labour I am to watch all Braxton Hicks but so far so good. Sure I’m having them but nothing out of the ordinary for me. I also need to hold off on taking my repeat Glucose Tolerance test is the medication I have been put on tends give false positives on them.
I’m officially sick of being pregnant now. Thing 2 needs to bake a little longer but I am just not sure how much more of this I can take. As soon as he’s here safe and healthy I’ll be able to look back at all of this and every minute will be worth it.
On a good note (sorta), this was likely the cause of my spotting a couple of weeks ago so at least that’s no longer unexplained.
