He Asked for It

Thing 1 never took to breastfeeding. Now that I am feeding Thing 2 he has become very curious. He comes up to me and tries to lift my short while saying “Milk” but I always stop him at the pass and tell him that big boys use cups. Well he outsmarted me on this.

I was pumping the other day and Thing 1 got a chair, got up on the counter and grabbed a cup. He brought it over to me and asked for milk. I told him I would get him milk from the fridge and he insisted he wanted “Mom’s Milk“. After I was done pumping I poured a little bit into the cup and let him have it. Hopefully it’s a one shot deal.

Hubby thinks it’s bit weird and my Mom thinks it was straight out wrong. What do all of you think?

I think that it is perfectly normal for him to be curious. In my opinion, you are handling things well. I don’t in any way think it is wrong or wierd. If you didn’t give him the attention and answers he wants now, he would just keep insisting on Mom Milk in the future. Good luck:)

    Erin,

Just did take on the bottles of EM and started to drink it….then he said yucky.

I also caught him in the kitchen with my pump under his shirt. I ask him what he was doing and he said “making milk”.

He comes over and kisses Nicole on the now when she is nursing and says “Got Milk”

LOL Roll with it girl things will be fine:-)

    Erin,

Caden’s curiosity about breastmilk is normal. I think you did the right thing and I would have done the same if Jack asked for Mom’s milk in a cup. He grabbed Lisa’s bottle a few times once she was done with it and drank what was left. He didn’t say anything at the time but he hasn’t been bugging for Mom’s milk when I pump or from Lisa’s bottles anymore. He’s never asked to nurse, which I have read some kids do. I figured he’s satisfied his curiosity. And just as a sidenote, the first few weeks after Lisa was born Jack was fascinated with lifting his shirt and looking at his chest…he doesn’t do that anymore either – LOL!

I agree with the pp. All normal. I think you handled it well. Hopefully that satisfied his curiosity.

I think you handled it well and I certainly dont think its weird, hopefully it satisfied his curiosity
